INCO 625

Inconel 625 is a high-performance nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy known for its high level of strength, temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance. This alloy 20 stainless steel, superalloy is composed mainly of nickel (58% min.) followed by chromium, molybdenum, niobium, iron, tantalum, cobalt, and trace amounts of manganese, silicon, aluminum, and titanium.

The properties of INCONEL alloy 625 that make it an excellent choice for sea-water applications are freedom from local attack (pitting and crevice corrosion), high corrosion-fatigue strength, high tensile strength, and resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking. It is used as wire rope for mooring cables, propeller blades for motor patrol gunboats, submarine auxiliary propulsion motors, submarine quick-disconnect fittings, exhaust ducts for Navy utility boats, sheathing for undersea communication cables, submarine transducer controls, and steam-line bellows. Potential applications are springs, seals, bellows for submerged controls, electrical cable connectors, fasteners, flexure devices, and oceanographic instrument components. The strength of Inconel 625 lies not only in its nickel-chromium base but also in the hardening mechanism of niobium and molybdenum. The 20 Mo 4 stainless steel alloy matrix is strengthened by the interaction of niobium with molybdenum that offers high strength without the need for precipitation-hardening treatment. At high temperatures in the presence of oxidizing agents, the titanium and niobium compositions of the oxide film on Inconel 625 increase drastically to form a natural protective layer in the material.

Inconel 625 has a high level of pitting and crevice corrosion resistance to chloride contaminated media, such as seawater, neutral salts, and brines. Alloy 625 is used in chemical processing, aerospace and marine engineering oil & gas, pollution control equipment, and nuclear reactors. The strength of INCONEL alloy 625 is derived from the stiffening effect of molybdenum and niobium on its nickel-chromium matrix; thus precipitation hardening treatments are not required. We provide plate cutting and pipe cutting as per requirements.

We Believe In Providing Quality

This combination of elements also is responsible for superior resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments of unusual severity as well as to high-temperature effects such as oxidation and carburization.
